SCHOOL ACTIVITIES & CO –CURRICULARS

Scouts & Guides Unit was formed in 2009 with the purpose to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of local, national and international communities.The school has a unit of scouts and guides with an aim to contribute to the education of our students to help them to become self fulfilled as individuals and to play a constructive role in society.

            On 1st July to 4th July 2019 school Scouts & Guides take part in the school integrated camp held at Gorkha Patchala H/S Garikhana, Shillong and bagged the 2nd position. This year five guides also received the Rajya Puraskar Award from the governor of Meghalaya Shri. Tathagata Roy.

School Activities

The School also lays great emphasis on co-curricular activities. Curricular & Co-Curricular Activities are conducted almost on regular basis by the School Co-Curricular Committees. All the students are motivated to take part in such activities viz. Science exhibition in school, Block and District level, Debate, Extempore speech, Quiz, Dancing, Singing, Poster Writing, Slogan writing, activities by Scouts and Guides etc. so as to take care of all round development of the students.

Sports& Games

Two times Winner in District level Subroto Cup-Mukherjee under-14  in the year 2009-2010 and Winner in State Level under-14 in the year 2010 and had also represented the State in the National Competition held in November at Delhi.

School Exhibition

To bring about the holistic development of the students using the pragmatic approach to education to enhance knowledge to students, the school organised one day school exhibition every year where students from class V to XII participated with zeal, showcased their creative talents and innovations by working together in groups. The key objective of the Exhibition is to bringing out the hidden talents of the students with a focus on creating awareness on “Science Technology” and on the “Environment”, where students got an opportunity to showcase their talents in front of others and feel proud of their achievements. They were able to apply their classroom and bookish knowledge and develop a taste for learning by doing, think and creatively find solutions in making the different categories of models, charts and posters to denote their topics. During presentation, the fear of speaking in public has been removed from students as they can represent and explain about their models with confidence.

School Kitchen Garden

On the 23rd.Oct.2019 the school in collaboration with Iaraplang Self Help Group started a school Kitchen Garden with an objective to help student to reconnect with the natural world, teaches them the value of production and the concept of agricultural skills. They also learn about cooperation, team work, making them gain self confidence and also to help them in their learning process. The Kitchen Garden was started in an area measuring 110 Sqm within the school campus. At the start 18 varieties of Vegetables were planted by the students with the guidance of the members of the Iaraplang SGH.

                The Kitchen Garden was also started with the purpose of growing vegetables for the Mid Day Meal programme of the school. Through this initiative the students can benefit and learn from this school programme.
